Out of the Blues 3 was a “rocking” success!

Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center’s third annual OUT OF THE BLUES charity concert on March 11 was a truly memorable event for attendees and a vital fundraiser (netting $70,000) for northern Chicagoland’s only rape crisis center. Ninety percent of all expenditures at Zacharias Center are on counseling and advocacy programs that directly benefit our clients. More than 400 enthusiastic guests RSVP’d for this exclusive evening of non-stop music hosted by WGN 720 AM’s Garry Meier, and featuring Living Blues Magazine’s Female Artist of the Year Shemekia Copeland and Eddy “The Chief” Clearwater with the Lonnie Brooks Band.

Thanks so much to our sponsors Robinette Demolition, Turner Construction, and other members of the construction and demolition industry without whom none of this would have been possible. We are already looking forward to our next OUT OF THE BLUES event in March of 2012!

In an evening full of superstar performers and memorable sounds, perhaps the most powerful voice came from special guest speaker named Zrinka, a rape survivor who shared how she made her “mess” into a “message” of hope and healing.

Zrinka A speaks about her experiences as a survivor at the third annual OUT:
